Mt Hood Mushrooms
Mt Hood is covered with edible wild mushrooms of many types. Two of the most common types are Chanterelle (upper right) and
Morel (lower left). Mushrooms general grow well in the spring and fall when the weather is moderately cool and damp. They
are so good if fixed right. However you must be very very careful to pick
the non-poisonous ones. One way to be somewhat sure you have the right ones is to use a book with pictures that
identify them. A much better technique is to have someone with you that has experience in picking Mt Hood mushrooms.
