Mt Hood Swimming
Swimming on Mt Hood rivers is done by the brave only most of the year because the glacier fed streams are
generally quite chilly. However, in late August the streams do warm some. There is a very nice
swimming hole on the Salmon River about 30 feet upstream of the cabin also there are sports to swim in front of the cabins on the Zigzag River. You may just want to wade, but on a hot day
a dip is refreshing.
There is also warmer lake swimming available. Location of the good lakes for swimming
can be found from the Mt Hood Information Center.
